Original Stories
by Jim Sutton
Some of these stories are
allegorical in nature, and have a meaning or illustration.
Others are just for fun. All of them are offered here as
entertainment. I enjoy reading and writing, and I write what I
enjoy reading. I hope visitors here will also enjoy reading.
I suppose all stories told by
human beings have some kind of deeper or wider meaning than the tale
they purport to tell. Certainly critics have imagined that every
story tells us something about the author. I know that there are
people who claim to be able to read an awful lot between the lines.
Any fictional tale I tell is
intended first for fun, for entertainment, and they always entertain
me as I write. As author, I am the first to "hear" the tale, and
usually the first to wonder how it will end. I write to make the
story unfold itself, revealing word by word, whatever it is supposed
to say.
I like stories with meaning and
morals. I believe that all events in real life point to some
greater meaning, and so I like it when a story or poem also points to
some greater truth, to some aspect of reality that we can benefit from
understanding.
You will see what I mean as you
read the stories and poems included here. Even if you fail to
get anything more from the writings here than the obvious,
please don't feel that you've missed anything. Every story
and every poem I've included here is meant for your entertainment
first. We grow as we allow ourselves to peek inside the ideas of
others, as we allow ourselves to glimpse the world (and the universe)
through another person's eyes. |
